Event Planning:
The Layout:
A little thought here will go a long way,
When planning your venue consider Health & Safety (see our Health & Safety statement Click Here) when laying out your tables and where the disco is placed.
If you are in a small venue or have a lot of guests, you may need to put tables on the dance floor for any sit down meal/event, try and aim to put young people, children and smokers on these tables, as they are the most likely to head for the bar, outside or somewhere to play. Older/infirm guests are less likely to leave their table after the meal so placing them away from the dance floor means you don’t have to move them when moving tables to clear space for the dance floor and they won’t be complaining the music is too loud.
As most Events are social occasions, avoid booking venues with lots of separate rooms this spreads guest about and can make the main room very empty. If you can try to keep it to just 1 room this keeps people together and make for a better atmosphere, try and make sure the bar is apart of the main area, as separate bars tend to draw guests away from the main room.
Most people think that a larger the dance floor is best, but this couldn't be further from the truth in most cases. A large dance floor will look empty and as a lot of people are shy when it comes to dancing on a dance floor this will only add to their inhabitations and keep them away. With a smaller dance floor it will look busier and your guests are more likely to get up and dance, also if the dance floor is full you'll have guests dancing around (or on) the tables, making for a better party atmosphere.
Just one last thing on dancing, if you know you have proficient dancers among your guests ask them if they could hold back a little during the early part of the evening, as when auntie Doris and uncle Fed are up on the floor jiving like they used to in years past at the competitions, you are not likely to get many guests up with them until the old Dutch courage kicks in.
Volume Levels:
We have been doing mobile discos and events for long enough to know that most of functions are social events, where people want to be able to chat with each other without the aid of a loud hailer to make themselves heard!
During every event that we do, we are very conscious of the volume output, and try to maintain it at a level that enables people to chat,
but loud enough to get them on the dance floor.
We will respond to all reasonable requests with regards to the volume level.
If you do want loud music bear in mind that this is not to everyone’s taste and you may find that people tend to drift away from the dance floor to the back of the room and outside to talk, it could also cause other problems if half your guests are standing around on the street.
So if you want it loud leave Mum and Dad at home and make sure your friends like it loud.
(PLEASE READ)
Sound Limiting Devices:
Sometimes venues we are booked at have sound limiting devices installed.
Tailored Sounds will perform in such venues if a direct power supply can be used or the aforementioned sound limiter is switched off.
We have found over the years that these devices can be very limiting and a good singer WITHOUT a microphone can trip these units, causing a very distinct silence and not only bring a sudden halt to your party, but it could damage our equipment.
All though we take every precaution to protect our equipment against sudden power failure, where this occurs due to sound limiters and if such damage occurs then the hirer will be responsible for any repairs.
